Why would HS kids do these post season races? The seniors are already signed to a college and the juniors are coming off state and need a rest before starting XC training.

Nothing happened to Alex Scales. He was in a great position to win the race but just got beat by some very good runners. These types of meets are super tough.

As for the question of why runners would compete in meets like this, why not? If you are an athlete or a coach of an athlete that got an invite to a meet like this, would you turn it down? More than likely no. It's a great experience to compete against some of the best runners in the nation.

Post Season races always have and always will be a great experience for the athletes to see how well they match up with other athletes around the country and the world.
