When all is said and done, Holland and Kurdy may end up ahead of Grijalva, but at the Bronco Invitational and Stanford, Grijalva finished on top. I see him as an extremely talented runner who is just starting to figure out race strategy. With Vernau, Holland, Kurdy and Grijalva racing the next two weeks, we'll see who ends up where.

On the girls side, there are two juniors who probably deserve to be on this list but might get overlooked on account of being next to supernovas on their own teams. Meredith Corda and Abigail Fisk both beat Sierra Brill, A. Newsom, and Delaney White at Mt. Sac. They may not be #1 runners on their teams, but that's tough when you are running with the likes of Brook Starne, Fiona O'Keeffe and Sofia Castiglioni.

Cassi Land - Sonora ran 18:26 at Willows Hills for the Bronco Invite beat Kendall Derry by 19 seconds. She has to be in the rankings.

The great news is the final rankings will come out in 3 weeks from this Saturday after the state meet. Some will perform some will disappoint some will come out and have the race of their lives. Excited for the post season!!!

The state meet is incredible and it's awesome to see kid's realize their dreams of performing at that level, but in many ways Sections is the meet I most look forward to. You see the relationships that are formed amongst the competing teams and the high performing individuals. You see kids realizing that despite the uniform you wear, in this sport, to a great degree, they are all in it together. I love seeing the frosh/soph races and seeing runners who may emerge as future stars and even the the 5-7 runners on teams trying to do their part. Also, due to the size of the meet, I have always found it a little harder at Woodward Park to see as much of the races as I do at Willow Hill. It turns in to a workout, but if you plan strategically, you can see runners about 5 or 6 times, including the start and finish.

Delaney White had a sinus infection at Mt. Sac, and only lost to Corda by 2 seconds. She also beat Corda head-to-head at Ed Sias, and Fisk head-to-head at Stanford. She'll be back and healthy for NCS. The entire Santa Rosa team should be spot on for NCS with her.
