Former Piedmont Hills star Reonna Collier stripped of 2014 state, CCS titles

Small consolation to those girls who finished 4th in those events at CCS and were cheated out of their trips to the state meet. I imagine this would've changed the final team standings, as well. Will those be amended and re-awarded? Glad to hear her family has gotten back together, though, as that's much more important than any of this.

Based solely on the information in the article, this doesn't seem like a situation where anyone was trying to manipulate rules for a competitive advantage. It was a kid from a broken home that winded up at a school with less-than-competent administrators. Too bad that the kid loses her official accomplishments.

Very unfortunate but hopefully she will get to compete next year. She sat out this year plus loses her freshman awards. I think she more than paid her dues and can move on from this situation.

She's only a junior next year, no big loss. She'll come back stronger...

agree with 3:39
a year later and no common sense or judgment applied to the specific hardship situation, at least as told by the article? Let's really try to hurt the kid and let everyone else off free.

@ 1242 PM - Nobody was "cheated" out of anything.

"It was an administrative oversight,'' Piedmont Hills athletic director Pete Simos said of the school not filing Collier's transfer paperwork. "We're going to put things in place to make sure that doesn't happen again.''

I'm sorry, but that is garbage. "Administrative oversight?" No, it was an administrative FAILURE. When a transfer student arrives, the very first thing any competent administration does is makes sure CIF eligibility requirements are complied with.

Rather than stripping the athlete of her titles, through no fault of her own, a better course of action would be to fire those responsible. That would definitley be putting things in place so it does not happen again.

Who is responsible for seeing that the transfer has been completed before someone races? Didn't this young lady race a full season last year? It seems to me this should have come out a long time ago. I'm a little surprised the i's weren't dotted in such a significant transfer. Fire whoever you like, but kids were definitely cheated if CCS is calling this an illegal transfer and saying this girl was ineligible to race.

Listen, this is a smoke screen. And where there's smoke, there's fire. She was ineligible last year living in Fairfield and attending school at Piedmont Hills to run for a specific coach. She then happens to move to Vacaville, a know school for producing hurdlers. This is no different than someone who leaves to "spend more time with the family." Also, the coach was a "family friend" so he knows she's a transfer and familiar with everything going on. Yet he never questions if she is cleared?

This has the appearance of an athlete moving for athletic reasons, a third school in one year is a lot. We have seen it here before and it won't be the last of it. Too bad she didn't stay at CCS, they would have won CCS with her alone.

She should have never been there to begin with. Word has it the Piedmont Hills coach or "Family friend" is moving on. There needs to be more oversight. How is it no one checks if a athlete of this caliber is even eligible? This all seems very shady.
