Brighie Leach, Campolindo?

Brighie Leach has not raced yet this year. I am sure she will be part of the top 10 after this Saturday.

Kevin Lehr raced at the Earlybird but not full out.

Didn't Matison and Meeks get beat in a league meet yesterday.

I don't much stock into a 2 mile league meet which had some competitors pacing their own teammates.

You can't rank someone who has NOT raced yet. On second thought you can do anything you want it's your Blog :-)

Kevin Lehr ran 15:04 last weekend at Woodbridge, 78th fastest boy overall, 2nd fastest NorCal runner...if you don't include the 8 Central Section runners. Edward Chance of Del Campo (SacJoaquin) ran 14:56 was #1 NorCal boy.

#1 CCS girl was Homestead 9th grader Elena Kamas, 17:19 and 35th overall!!! Her teammate Lindsay Allen ran 17:36 for 68th overall!

Seems like there should be others ahead of Riley Mason - she finished behind Lizzie Lacy, Julia Bounds and Matti Peoples at Chieftain and with the same time as JJ Escalara at Lowell with a time that wasn't that fast. Lauren Jacob is coming off of injury but will certainly end up on this list.

Cate Ratliff ahead of Meeks and Starn???

Anonymous said...

Ratliff had a slightly faster time then Meeks at Toro although they ran a week apart. Weren't conditions actually warmer for Early bird than for Chieftain?

Other than Fiona O'Keefe clearly at the top, everyone has been running on different courses and different distances. Stanford will help separate but even then Stanford is a relatively flat course and I believe favors speed over strength??

Gee of Cupertino beat Meeks of Gunn at the SCVAL Cluster meet on Tuesday.

You left out Paul Zeiss from Granite Bay.

how about kathryn loken from Del
Campo High School? She beat Kendall Derry, and Kyra Hunsberger. She has ran 18:09 and is only a Sophmore!!

In my opinion, McCandless should be ranked ahead of Hansel. Although she lost head-to-head at Monte Vista, she was faster at Ed Sias and looked impressive at De La Salle

seems like Sofia Castiglioni from Davis should be ranked somewhere.

After looking at this list last year was really a great year for NOR CAL Boys

Albert Caruana said...

That was a very strong class of boys but keep in mind that group had to follow other strong runners before them.

We will just have to wait to see in regards to this year's seniors.

Yes different courses and distances make this tough and Stanford should help start to sort things out. But, Morgin Coonfield is deserving of a mention and Megan McCandless should be higher in my opinion.
How about this:
1. Fiona O'keeffe
2. Rylee Bowen
3. Megan McCandless
4. Kendall Derry
5. Chloe Hansel
6. Brooke Starn
6. Gillian Meeks
8. Morgin Coonfield
9. Cate Ratliff
10. Kathryn Loken

My ranking might be NCS biased, but yours might be CCS biased :)

Did not Chloe Hansel beat McCandless in a race this year and break the course record? Just saying,

Anonymous said...

No doubt Chloe Hansel has had a great start to her season! Not trying to take anything away from her. McCandless ran 21 seconds faster than Hansel at Ed Sias 2 mile and followed that up with a solid 17:51, 3 mile at Nike. I put more stock in the 3 mile races and just haven't seen one from Hansel yet. Wish them both a great season!

I agree! And how can girls that haven't even raced yet be in the top ten ranking to begin with? Are your rankings based on personal bias? Please reply, I'm sure I'm not the only person interested in your answer. I too have been keeping a close on this Sophomore, Kathryn Loken, and you obviously have not?

All of the girls on Albert's top 10 list have raced this season. Just because your favorite runner is not on his list, don't assume he's being biased.

Salem Bouhassen of Mission High school San Francisco section will make this list guaranteed by end of season and may upset some these individuals at State

Anonymous said...

Salem Bouhassen 16:25 toro park 9th in junior race at early bird, 15:21 at lowell invite 13th fastest of day and 4th fastest junior of day. Not top material yet but very soon

Why isn't Goltra listed? Did he transfer or is he injured?

Anonymous said...

Aidan Goltra graduated and is running at Columbia...best of luck to him there!

On the girls side. Have to agree with Albert, Leach will make an impact at Stanford. As a senior, I have to imagine she is on the radar of many elite college running programs (all with coaches in attendance). A nice D3 showdown between her and Hansel will be fun to watch. Didn't see Granada on the list of schools participating. Does that mean McCandless runs in the Seeded race?

Anonymous said...

Hannah Allen and Nicole Colonna had great times at Woodbridge. Enough to be considered?

Anonymous said...

Marcus Avila (Bellarmine) and Johain Ounadjela (Carlmont) from CCS have run consistently well especially at the Stanford invite today with both running 15:40s, and should be looked into for ranking.

Leach and Hansel SHOULD go head-to-head on Wednesday at the DFAL league opener at Hidden Valley Park. Boys' race should also be a good one with key runners from Miramonte, Dublin, Campolindo, Las Lomas, Acalanes, Dougherty Valley, and Alhambra.

15:08 at Stanford puts Gronk up there.
