Glad to see Gronk up there this time

Megan McCandless come on just because she did not race at Stanford? That is just not right, she should be much higher up.

This list seems heavily biased toward the athletes who raced at Stanford. Cate Ratliff ran a 14:03 at Ram this weekend, and now she's not even on the list.

Not sure how much higher you can put McCandless...Hansel was second fastest NorCal girl at Stanford after all and does own a H2H win against McCandless at MV Invite. I know your argument will be that she ran a faster time at Ed Sias, but they were still different races and different competition.

Ratliff definitely deserves mention. Just Top 10 is an extremely short list. Someone is going to left off. But I am wondering, what is the girls course record for Ram/Westmoor 2.4? Ratliff ran the fastest I have seen in the past 5 years.

No question that the list is heavily biased toward athletes that ran at Stanford Invite although most of the top runners did indeed race at Stanford.

I think at this point, O'Keeffe and Hansel have been the top two runners in NorCal and once you get past those two, the order will be different for every attempted ranking.

Keep in mind that Leach ran her first real race this season at Stanford. Finnane, despite being a senior, is in her first year running XC which means she could have room for improvement. Gee and Bowen are both freshmen.

Ratcliff's time at Westmoor converts to about 18:16 at Stanford and yes she would have run much faster against better competition. I am certain she will be part of the top 10 the majority of the season.

Run big races and get Recognized
for your efforts!

Seriously, though, who is Gronk?

Anonymous said...

I think that's Colin Burke.

Pretty fair list based on Stanford results. Jesuit is now Division 1 in SJS now.

Surprising the St. Francis girls team (Sac.) disappeared from the rankings. How did they do in their East Coast race. Must have tanked not to be in the Top 10 anymore, or was it an oversight?

Oversight.

Surprised to see St Francis so high, given that Woodcreek beat them in their only head-to-head. And both teams had their Frosh/Soph runners in separate race. Going to be an exciting battle for the last state spot for the SJS D1 Girls.
