Next up...

Individual rankings for the upcoming NCS MOC meet this Saturday.

Who is the biggest favorite to win this Saturday?  Who is going to surprise the field with an unexpected individual victory?  What will be the most competitive division?

i don't know how much of an upset it will be, but I say huxam takes it over goltra in d3 (which will be the most competitive division).

I think d5 boys will be more competitive (more potential winners), but d3 boys will be the fastest race of the day (because of huxham and goltra).

So many good battles. D2 Boys with Salazar, Anderson, and Tu will be fun to watch. Anonymous @3:19 is right though, D5 will be more competitive (Arias, Reinhart, Kinney, Murphy twins, Connolly, Shaw). D3 Boys will be the fastest.

Girls side, D2 has a ton of contenders for the top spot. Busby, Hernandez, Xu, along with the Casa and Carrillo girls.

can't wait for Saturday.

Actually Hurlock will produce a fast time all by himself. Not sure who will really challenge him.

@12:29, I agree with you, but for the opposite reason. I think Goltra will look past this race to focus on CIF and avoid mixing it up with Huxham at NCS altogether. Goltra is a very tactical racer and my guess is he looks past this race to focus on the bigger prize of repeating as State Champ.

(I'm the guy who just commented at 4:37)

One exception to this: If the course is muddy even half as muddy as it was last year, then Goltra will annihilate all divisions. Easily. Racing Goltra in mud is like playing Nadal on clay.

I don't think anyone is looking past any NCS competition, regardless of their plans for state. I do think that Hurlock will most likely throw down the fastest time of the day.

De La salle team course record????

Yeah whoever thinks Huxham and Goltra are faster than Hurlock is silly.

Literally nobody said that. The only mentions of him in this thread say that he's going to go some monster time.

Fastest race means fastest actual competition, Hurlock probably won't have anyone racing next to him.

One problem with Goltra "look[ing] past this race to focus on the bigger prize of repeating as State Champ." There's this guy named Austin Tomagno in D3. He's the hands down favorite to win State. He's #27 in the US according to Dyestat and #9 on the Saucony Elite 50. 4:09 for the freshman national record this past spring, 14:34 for the sophomore course record at Mt. Sac this fall, and 15:07 at Clovis.

Tamagno's good, but that's why the races are held. To let the kids decide on that day on the course. It will be a fun race to watch.

And to the Hurlock backers, I may have said D3 will be the fastest. And that (and other's comments) could be interpreted as saying "Goltra will run faster than Hurlock." Not the case, I just try not to comment on the races my runners are in (D1).

@7:48

Well, I guess if state placements are already decided there's no point in driving down to Fresno.

Wouldn't the fact that someone else is the favorite to take your title be all the more reason to focus on taking him down?

My mistake, Nassim of San Rafael only beat Matt by 4.6 seconds at county finals. A small margin for such a nasty course.
