IDK about SJND in that top spot.

Hopefully Stanford was just a bad day for Casa Grande and they'll come on strong at season's end to make it competitive race at NCS - did Maria Carrillo really place 7 girls ahead of Casa's #2 at Stanford?

D5 - Convent is listed on the bubble, and #4...do we have two Convents??

My mistake on Convent. It's fixed.

if Convent beat University 20-35 in a dual meet, why is University ranked ahead?

Good question. I ranked teams on how they are doing now. This past Saturday, Convent had only 3 runners finish the race at Stanford while University finished 5th in one of the heats of the Varsity race at the Ram Invitational.

I don't think we have seen the best of both teams yet so I had to make an educated decision between both teams.

Things can change when they race again so stay tuned.

Dublin beat Livermore at Farmer pretty handily. I think they should switch places at least.

Nobody should be surprised when amador sweeps ebals.

Thanks for the comments so far. I will keep them in mind for the next rankings.

IMO, "on the bubble" is being very generous to Montgomery girls - I can count 12 schools in D2 which have shown stronger (Santa Rosa, Windsor, and Washington are three that have not been mentioned) so those schools should be "on the bubble" too

I agree with Andrew. Livermore has one of the biggest 1,2,3 punches with Crosse and the Olson's but asides from that they lack the depth to place high as a team while Dublin is a much deeper team.

I am assuming the first comment, saying "IDK about SJND" was irony? They did win Div V at Stanford, sweeping positions 1 to 4 and total score of 24. And that's with two Varsity runners sidelined with injuries.

Stuart Hall High School? they almost came away with a win against university. I'd say they're in the bubble for DV Boys. Thomas Namara also looks pretty strong for Stuart Hall

O'dowd girls killed Las Lomas at Clovis, and finished second in the D3 sweepstakes at Sac.

Miramonte boys beat Las Lomas and Acalanes at the DFAL Center meet! They should be ranked at least 3rd!

Casa girls recently tied Carrillo and lost on a tiebreaker in a tri nbl league meet.

@7:14 But the O'Dowd girls lost a league meet to Castro Valley

Northgate has beaten both College Park and Clayton Valley in DVAL girls' action.

In Boys DV, I would definitely say Athenian should move down. They are nowhere near the 4 spot. UHS and CP should be 4 and 5, order undecided. CP won the challenge, but UHS always finishes strong and has improved a lot.

It's important to realize that winning the battle, a.k.a. a dual/tri meet, doesn't mean that a team will win the war--league, section, state. A good dual meet team may not have the upfront runners that become even more valuable in championship meet scoring. It's a whole different game. Look at the large invitationals for a better sense of how teams MAY fair in the post season. In the end though it's who's got the best race in them on the day of the meet!

Albert Caruana said...

I think it works the other way around in that a team with good upfront runners can do well in smaller meets but their back-end runners really come in to play in the bigger meets.

I agree with Albert. Pack running > front running.

I'm curious about how the Amador Valley and Monte Vista girls teams are both ranked above Granada in the division rankings, yet Granada is the only NCS D1 girls team on the NorCal rankings?

D2 Girls: Northgate girls into top 5, CV and CP out. Please explain what Montgomery has done at any point this year to merit mention. Either drop them or add Windsor, Santa Rosa, and Washington to bubble.

The rankings you see above were from October 2nd. I will update them at the end of this week. Thank you for the comments so far.
