I am no english teacher but it's a historic.

Where is the error?

I'm just a HS graduate, but I've always used 'an' before any word beginning with a vowel and 'a' before any word beginning with a consonant. Is that correct?

I knew Jim thirty years ago. We were both members of the Excelsior Track Club. I moved away from the Bay Area, but ran into him (in the late eighties I believe) at Hoy's Sports on Haight Street where he was working. He was the real deal then and it sounds like he's still the real deal.
