if jack scranton decides to run the mile he will wreck the field no competition. remember that kid last year? that fool could RACE. beat nick ratto down the homestretch at stanford to win it. beat trevor fuhriman down the final 200 at woody wilson to win it. beat jordan rushing down the last turn at SAC MOC to win it. that kid can kill it in the mile.

Scranton was unbeaten last year at the 1500/1600/mile during an awesome 2012 outdoor season derailed by freak injury. Ran 4:16 1600 and 4:17 full mile mid-season. Grolle a great runner no doubt but Scranton should be THE favorite, no question.

Both Brynn Sargent of Bella Vista and Ryan Hodgens of Whitney ran faster 1600 times than Stoll, Alvarado, and Maio. Those guys should definitely be considered threats this year with those returning faster times.

Another talented runner sucked into the club soccer scene. I'm not anti soccer, but after that kind of success in xc why would you not do track?

Play for your school in winter and club in the summer... These club soccer coaches are awful. What are they promising? A scholarship? She probably as a full ride (or close to it depending where she wants to go). An Olympic medal?

The club scene is getting gets to skip playing for their school now too. Sad how there is no school pride or sense of community anymore.

It's all so sad.

Laney Teaford from Davis is definitely a contender in the 800 - 2:16 PR.

Also former Masters champion Sophie Meads from Davis is a potential contender in the 3200. Wouldn't be surprised to see her return to previous form this track season.

Ariel Young from Rio Americano (formerly of St. Francis) has crazy potential (5:10 mile in 8th grade) - could be a dark horse.

Maggie Bell would be favorite in 800 for sure and strong contender in mile if she does end up running track (and not staying with soccer).

Sophie Mead slipped back and was surpassed by several girls. Forget about Ariel Young. Laney Teaford could definitely be a factor. SJS plays spring girls soccer, not winter.
