I feel like this needs to be addressed: why does no one say anything about how she runs?!? She's got the craziest form I've ever seen in my life! What the heck is wrong with her? Doesn't she notice that she runs like a freak??! Sorry, I mean that to be as least offensive as possible, it's just the truth.

To anonymous! What kind of person talks about kids this way! If you have something to say, say it in a constructive and adult way. If you don't like the way someone runs fine. There is no need to use name calling and ignorant language as a means to communicate your thoughts. If I personally ever heard you talk that way you would know it real fast!

That unique style of running just won footlocker west regionals Mr. anonymous! Jokes on you I suppose!

CCS getting 3 runners in, wow!! and Norcal with 5 total? How's that for representation? Too bad FL isn't as hard to make these days but still impressive nonetheless.

While Karlie's form may seem unorthodox, the results cannot be disputed. Just like a jump shot in basketball, if the ball consistently goes in, it's working.

Congrats to her for her Footlocker West victory.

Karlie's form is unorthodox, but you can't argue with the results, sure. But there has to be a concern with injury (and she has quite the history). So although the results are great, it does matter how she is doing it to the most important degree - her health.

Congrats to Karlie and all the qualifiers and to everyone who ran. Mt Sac is not an easy course run.

Its too bad Carrie Verdon was scratched. Holy cow, Sarah Robinson!

What happened with Carrie Verdon?

Congrats to all the NorCal girls, and good luck next weekend!

Carrie Verdon had to scratch due to an injury.

Looking at past years on qualifying times are actually pretty consistant year in and year out just up and down a little in the front and back qualifiers but over the last 10 years the depth has gotten alot deeper i would say so I wouldn't say easier, as of 10 to 12 years ago there would only be a 8 or so sub5 girl Milers, now there is quite a few and even in the 3200m after watching the girls state track championship last year having watching alot of sub 10:50s,so basically now a days if you are just on that day or not!

You all are wrong. While the OP did so in an immature manor calling such poor running form into question is not uncalled for (though the verbiage was indeed inappropriate).

To say that she has the correct form and it is "explosive" is simply not right either and in my opinion just as outrageous. The fact is runners need to be taught to run. We do not know why she runs like that, there could be a medical issue, we do not know.

A good coach would work on making that running form more efficient, you can see she exerts a lot of extra energy and would likely be a much better and faster runner than she already is. This is not opinion, it is physics, bio-mechanics and exercise physiology here.

The only reason (IMHO) that Footlocker has gotten easier to qualify for (and it has) is because since NXN they now take 10 and not 8. Times are still just as tough but taking two more athletes is a plus - just ask 9th place.

It is also easier because of NXN. Since some of the top runners choose to go to NXN instead, you don't have all the top runners at FL Western Regionals. For example, if Sarah Baxter went to FL, I can guarantee you that #10 at FL would not have made it in the top 10. Many of the top CA runners were at NXN instead of FL and would have most likely changed the top 10 line-up at FL if there were at FL.

My contention with NXN is their attempt to take away individuals from the Footlocker race. I am fairly positive that several individuals who chose to run at NXN from California and the Northwest would have placed in the top 10 at FLW.

NXN should determine the national team champions and Footlocker should determine the individual champion. Unfortunately that wasn't good enough for Nike and they tried to do away with the Footlocker meet.

Hopefully Sarah Baxter will run at Footlocker so that we can have a true national individual champion. Futsum Zeinasellaissie is already scheduled to compete.

Year end and Year out as long as Foot locker has been running sometimes the best runners choose not to run or next it all depends if you are on that day or not! Some great runners still ran and still not make it anyway, alot of State Champions looked like they were a in the middle of the pack! There has never been one race that has had the very best runners in it, lets say #1 Runner thru #50 in the Country! Some rest, some injured and some just want to get ready for track and heck some are getting ready for indoor already! So let's cheer on Foot Locker and Nike athletes, they still all worked their Butt off to get where they are Now!

Nobody was questioning the runners or their talent, we were questioning the meet. Since there are now two national races (on the same weekend), you will most likely never get the same caliber of competition in FL, because, of those that choose to run in a national race at the end of the year, there are two races that the runners will be split between.

FL will never be as competitive as it could be in any given year...and Nike too, for that matter.
