Stanford Invitational college races

Reesey Byers (former Santa Rosa HS runner) finished 2nd in his 5000m. heat running 14:19.01 in his 5k debut.  That time broke the Sacramento State school record.

Any other notable college times for former Northern California HS runners from the Stanford Invite?

33:38 for Jennifer Bergman in the 10,000 meters which is under the USATF A Standard! She finished 12th in the fast heat and should make it to NCAA's with that time.

After 4 tough years of high school track ending in tears for each one I told her she would have much bigger races ahead of her. Just didn't think she would be doing it so soon!

Not bad for a 19 year old!

It is great to see someone from CCS doing so well. It makes me proud!
Good luck to her.

What was so great about her race was how she ran it: go out under control (she was second to last at the 800 meters, I believe...I was there, but that level of detail escapes me), and then steadily work her way up through the huge field, pulling in each little group by closing the gaps with really gutsy running. She finished os strong, too! What a great race...
