Most impressive leading mark to date?  Who is going to be a state meet podium (top 6) contender?

What is sad is there were times at K-Bell that surpassed these but there was no wind gauge. Why does a big meet like this not verify the wind so their times are legit? Shame...

ditto for Roasico's 200 at WG Invite, but otherwise a pair of well-run meets.
I think Waschura will be a state podium-er for sure, looked studly in that mile.

i wanna say eversole but there are a lot of other good guys this year.

good luck to him though.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt that any Norcal distance boys will make the podium in the 1600 or the 3200.

The best shot is probably Dan Milechman in the 1600.

In the 800, however, Ortolan, Mathkour, and Williams could probably all make it. It'll be tough, but with Krinik and Dotson graduated, the 800 is wide open.

Eversol is by far the favorite at this point in NCS. Anyone you think can challenge him at MOC?

Luis Luna and Thomas Joyce could put up a good fight.

Luna should give Eversole a run for his money in the 3200 at NCS.

But I'll have to agree with everything Anonymous said (@ 7:28 PM). The NorCal distance kids are going to find it hard to reach the podium this year in the 1600 and 3200.

If Milechman can get down to the low 4:10s then he'll have a shot but SoCal is way too stacked in the distances.

And as it stands right now, the 800 is the best shot NorCal will have of reaching the podium.

I agree, 1:55 that early isn't messing around.

I'm still calling it: Waschura gets 5th or better at states. He doesn't know how to lose, and has way more speed than any miler outside of Gedyon and possibly Urie and/or Vilhauer. If he's in range with 400 to go, it's over. Proof: go watch the RS Mile at Arcadia 2010. Just ridiculous.

Gedyon ran a 4:11 last weekend indoors. That's definitely sub 4:10 on an outdoor track. It's probably gonna take at least 4:12 or faster to reach the podium this year in the 1600.

True that, but he also ran 4:07 at Brooks PR at Dempsey, so I think that's a little better indicator of where he's at right now. No idea how he lost that NBIN race, he should have destroyed Lukas on that last 200-400m.

I don't know about a 4:12 to get on the podium. Didn't only take a 4:21 last year?

@ Hank

last years california state meet was tactical and went something like 2:23-1:59 for some top finishers

I would be willing to wager one oreo cookie that 4:21 will not win the state meet 1600m. this year (for the boys).

A 4:21 did not even make finals last year.

No worries Hank, I get the joke (even if no one else seems to...). Hopefully that race made you guys as mad as it did me!!!!

I too appreciated Hank's joke, and as someone who left at 4:00 am to drive to state, and drove home arriving at around 12:00 am, primarily to watch the distance races, I was personally rather less than impressed by the slowest winning time in over 50 years. So all I can say is I really hope Al ins his Oreo bet this time around.

Back on topic I feel like Milechman may be our best hope against the giants of Southland, but Eversole and Otrollan have been impressive already, and Luis Luna is sure to make big plays.

Eversol looks very, very smooth in this 9:09 but too many sub 9 gays down south. I'd say Cole William and a 1:55 looks strongest this early in the season.

Impressive performances in Dublin????

Keith Rayburn Senior from North Monterey County went 15'1" in PV on 2/24/11 at Hollister meet...
