Fantastic race for the EBAL League title today. Parker Deuel lead from the start and extended his lead at each mile on the way to an excellent 15:19 solo time on a windy day. DLS was the clear winner in a team race that was far more closer than the final results would indicate. The front pack featured as many as 20 runners in contention well into the second mile. Amador looked strong at the mile turn with Sam Acret, Connor McCarthy and Taylor Peissner at the front of the pack while DLS has 5 in the top 12. At this point, SRV had both Brian Hardy and Matt DeVries in the back of this lead pack in 13 and 16 respectively with the sophomore duo of Zack Hanze and Carl Wilke a further 5 seconds back. By the 1.75 mile mark, the pack has stretched out a bit and the quality of the DLS squad was starting to show as they moved to dominate the front. Over the last mile, San Ramon's DeVries made an aggressive move, charging from mid teens to challenge the front runners before finishing 7th. This move along with strong last mile efforts by fellow sophomores Hanze and Wilke allowed SRV to edge Amador for second in the team race.

In the end, the DLS squad lead by Sr's Kyle Williams, Stephan Spangenberg, Connor Van Meter and Michael Williams ran a very strong team race and their experience was simple too much for San Ramon and Amador to match.

EBAL should be well represented at NCS. In D1, expect a strong showing from DLS and look for Amador to improve on todays fine run (they evidently had a couple sick runners) to make an even stronger showing. SRV will drop down to D2 and should challenge for the top spot and a state meet berth in this division.

Wow, excellent summary. Just by the way, its "Michael Johnson" not "Michael Williams," haha he and Kyle are not related.

Yeah as you noted it was windy, I think this may have slowed down times quite a bit.... and if it wasn't the wind it was something because times were definitely slower on the whole, despite cool weather and dry ground.

I did a check of how all the varsity boys times compared to their best on this course this year (most of them have run it twice). Monta Vista's top 7 runners ran a combined 47 seconds faster. Most teams were slower, with the wind one of the factors.
MV - 47 sec
Cal - 8
DLS + 19
SRV + 23
Liv +44
AV + 49
FH + 69
Gr + 118 (one was sick and off 78)

DLS wins by 16 and that is clear but SRV beats AV by 26 and that is edging them? take a look at the score before picking adjectives for a summary.

Amador did not have anything close to a good race. Sam Aceret lead the squad with a 4th place finish at 15:42. But their #2 and #3 both had bad races, following Aceret by more than 20 seconds. (When there is usualy no more than an 10 second gap between all 3 of them) Their 6th and 7th were the only one's that PRd and ended up scoring by being the 4th and 5th guys. Their usual #4 collapsed at the finish line after suffering from some sort of feverish episode. Their usual #5 was sick as well. I think at this point all they can do is accept the defeat and prepare themselves for a stacked D1 race at NCS.

Prediction: Amador beats College Park at NCS. And no, I don't go to Amador Valley.

Does anyone have a good breakdown for the girls race?

College Park will beat Amador Valley at NCS. Amador is good but not great.

If College Park and DLS are both on form at NCS, then Amador will have a very tough time making it to state. That being said, all it takes is one bad race by one scorer from DLS or College park to give Amador the chance.

You just gotta believe!

I "believe" that the top 2 teams are DeLaSalle and College Park, and I don't have any affliation with either team.
