I don't really understand how Weston was athlete of the year, but got beat by Nathan in the Distance Runner of the Year category. how does that work? I guess it doesn't really matter, they are both accomplished athletes who had great seasons.

Gotta feel for Garrett Rowe though. The guy started off his season great, running 9:09 indoors, to begin what looked to be a promising senior track season. Unfortunately he was hindered by sickness and injury. From what I saw in the CIF 3200 race, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he would have been state champ had he been healthy. He's represented CCS superbly the past two years and has always been able to perform big when it counts. Also a class act with a great sense of humor. Best of luck to him at Princeton!

They picked a "Track & Field Athlete of the Year". Then as "honorable mentions" they picked "sprinter of the year", "distance runner of the year", etc etc. Weston was overall Track & Field athlete of the year, so Nathan got the honorable mention "distance runner of the year". Just like how Goranson won girls athlete of the year, but Nelms won the honorable mention hurdler of the year.

There is in mine. I don't think he could have beaten Strum this year. Last year's State meet was different. If the race was a little better Strum would have gotten the CCS record. Rowe is good, but not good enough to say there is "no doubt" he would have won State.
